XXIX ‘Winter Mathematics Competitions’
29th – 31st January, 2010
The XXIX ‘Winter Mathematics Competitions’ took place from 29th to 31st January 2010: In Russe – the mathematics competition for fourth to eighth form students as well as the mathematical linguistics competition. In Pleven - the mathematics competition for ninth to twelfth form students and Veliko Turnovo – the informatics competition for fourth to twelfth form students. The above mentioned is the most significant national competition on these subjects.

The Australian Ambassador awarded the gold medals of the Australian Mathematics Society. On 2nd of February 2010 on a special ceremony at the Mathematics and Informatics Institute of the Bulgarian Academy for Science the Australian Ambassador for Bulgaria came from Greece to award the winners of the International Mathematics Competition of the Australian Mathematics Society |

Consecutive successes
On 28.11.2009 the Ninth national autumn tournament "John Atanasov" in Informatics and Information Technology was held in Shumen. 29 students of High School of Mathematics "Dr P. Beron", Varna, took part in it. 23 of them competed in the section of Informatics and 6 students – in the section of Information Technology
The competition in groups A, B, C, D and E was individual in the section of Informatics. The teams from Albania, Greece, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania and Serbia competed in groups A and C, too.
In group C 2 (presentation projects with educational content, 8-12 grade):
- Second place is for Martin Georgiev Rublev and Martin Todorov Yovkov for their presentation “Geometric cuts, fitting together and coatings”. The boys are from 10g grade and their tutors are Siana Mateeva and Irina Vasileva.
- Third place is for Niki Danielov Dimitrov and Maria Minkova Stoyanova from 10g grade for their presentation “Digestive system”; their tutors are Rositsa Ruseva and Valeria Petkkova.
In the Informatics section:
Group D: Ilian Yordanov Yordanov, grade 5a, is in 1st place;
Group C: Gerasim Petrov Velchev, grade 7a, is in 2nd place;
Momchil Pavlinov Peichev won a bronze medal at the Balkan Tournament in Informatics- Junior Division.
The tutors of the Informatics groups are: Rumyanka Ivanova – groups D and E; Elena Dimitrova – group E; Galina Momcheva –groups A, B and C. |

Participation of the students of High School of Mathematics in
the National Physics competition
Varna 31.10.2009 On 31 October 2009 the National Physics competition was held in Varna. The students of High School of Mathematics "Dr P. Beron", Varna, took part in it. More impressive results were achieved by:
- Radostina Kalaidjieva, grade 7, - 1st place;
- Ivan Popov, grade 7, - 2nd place;
- Milena Velikova, grade 9, - 1st place.

Start the campaign for "Green and Clean Varna"
On 12 October 2009 the Mall Varna together with the Municipality of Varna started the campaign for "Green and Clean Varna" in the schoolyard of High School of Mathematics "Dr P. Beron", Varna. That campaign was launched from the yard of the school, is not accidental. The schoolyard is kept in good condition and planted with trees and shrubs.
This is a reminder that anyone can help our city be clean and green, and again it can win the title of "The best city to live in Bulgaria".

Participation in the Math Competition "Sly Peter" – Gabrovo
On 10 October 2009 the students of High School of Mathematics "Dr P.Beron", Varna took part in the mathematical competition "Sly Peter". The participation was excellent as a whole, but the best performing students are:
Grade 5 – Dimitar Marcovich – 1st place; Lyubomir Velchev – 5th place;
Grade 6 – Vasilena Nikolova – 3rd place;
Grade 7 - Radostina Kalaidzhieva, Stanislav Shterev - 1st place;
Grade 8 - Momchil Peichev, Viktor Radivchev - 5th place.
